In view of the high monetary and emotional cost of extended matrimonial litigation, we first examine all options that might result in a settlement of the dispute that is satisfactory to our client and that reflect a realistic appraisal of what portion of the marital estate our client might be entitled to under applicable law. If such a settlement is attainable, our clients will be in a better position to proceed with their lives, and if there are children involved, the trauma of a divorce will be minimized. In situations where the opposing spouse adopts an unreasonable position and refuses to settle, we litigate vigorously to secure our client's rights. Our experience includes matrimonial matters in which assets are in the United States as well as in foreign jurisdictions, and in which one of the spouses owns his or her own business. Since in many important respects the dissolution of a marriage resembles the dissolution of a partnership and distribution of its assets, we bring to bear and are able to apply our experience in business matters to divorce proceedings.
