What are some common challenges that start-ups face?

On Behalf of | Oct 30, 2015 | Entrepreneurs

If you’re an entrepreneur with a new small business, you probably understand that you have a few challenges ahead of you. There are a number of obstacles that business owners in New York and elsewhere will need to address in order for their company to grow and remain competitive. According to advice from Entrepreneur, the following points are some of the most common challenges you are likely to face as a small business owner:

Increasing profits and revenue – Attracting a loyal customer base and remaining competitive with a quality product or service may present one of your biggest challenges in the first few years of your business. It could also be difficult getting approved for business loans. Fortunately, increasing annual profits may become less of a concern as your business continues to grow.

Hiring quality employees – Finding and retaining a qualified, talented crew is an issue that most businesses go through on an ongoing basis. This is especially true if your business is limited to a specific locale, such as a neighborhood bistro.

Providing health care – Companies with a certain number of employees are required to provide health care to employees who qualify. Recent changes to health care laws have made this issue an especially complicated one to address.

Complying with government regulations – There are many laws and regulations that, as a business owner, you will need to adhere to. Some examples would include employee privacy rights, minimum wage increases and safety regulations. Some business regulations frequently change, and as your company grows you may face additional rules and regulations.

Your challenges as a new business owner may sometimes seem overwhelming, but there are many resources available to help. This information is not meant to serve as legal advice, but to provide some valuable insight.
