Two instances when your decision to divorce should be immediate

On Behalf of | Nov 23, 2018 | Divorce

Most spouses do not decide to get a divorce quickly or easily. In fact, there is never a situation when the decision to divorce is an easy one. However, there are some moments when, to anyone viewing the situation from the outside, getting a divorce should be an immediate and obvious course of action.

There are at least two times when you shouldn’t think twice about bringing your marriage to a close.

You’re married to an addict

Addictions to drugs and alcohol have caused so much suffering in the world. The things is, no one has to take drugs or drink alcohol. It’s a choice, and it is within your spouse’s power to stop abusing substances immediately. If your spouse’s addictions are causing you or your family to suffer, divorcing your spouse could be the fastest and easiest way for you to achieve a much better quality of life.

You’re married to an unfaithful spouse

One of the hallmarks of marriage is fidelity. Sure, there are some marriages in which the spouses agree to have a so-called open relationship, but these are exceptions to the rule. If your spouse is being unfaithful to you, there’s no reason you need to put up with it. No one is out of bounds for asking their spouse to be faithful, no matter who they are. Therefore, when your spouse doesn’t want to be faithful, it’s time to end the relationship and find one that does.
